Moby is designed to offer flexibility when working with data, providing two main modes to enhance your experience: Analyze Mode and Build Mode. These modes are accessible through tabs at the top of the Moby interface, allowing you to seamlessly switch between them depending on your needs.

Analyze Mode: A Conversational Interface

Analyze Mode displays Moby in a single-thread chat format, similar to popular chatbots like ChatGPT. This mode is focused on interaction, with text responses generated as you ask questions or give commands. Throughout the conversation, Moby embeds widgets directly in the chat, providing quick visual insights alongside the text-based responses.

  • User Experience: Single-thread chat conversation.

  • Widgets in Context: As you ask questions, Moby embeds widgets such as charts or tables into the chat for a visual representation of the data.

  • Ideal For: Users who prefer an uninterrupted conversational flow, with data visuals appearing organically during the interaction.

Build Mode: Split-Screen for Visual Construction

Build Mode transforms the interface into a split-screen view. While text responses continue on the left side of the screen, the right side exclusively shows the widgets and visualizations that are being built or updated. This mode allows you to actively engage in a conversation with Moby while always having a live view of your widgets.

  • User Experience: Split-screen with text on the left and widgets on the right.

  • Live Widget Updates: As you interact with Moby, the right side of the screen continually updates to reflect new widgets being built, giving you a clearer view of your data.

  • Ideal For: Users who want to build or view dashboards in real time without interrupting the chat flow. You can interact with your widgets while still holding a conversation with Moby.

Both Analyze and Build modes provide distinct advantages, giving you the flexibility to choose the best interface for your workflow. Whether you prefer a conversational style or a more interactive, visual approach, Moby adapts to your preferences while delivering actionable insights.
