What are Credits?

Credits are how we offer flexible pricing for some of Triple Whale's most powerful features.

Credits are used for:

Moby AI

  • Data analysis: Chat with Moby to analyze and take action on your data.

  • Creative generation: Generate, edit, and publish images.

Credits are how you pay for these features — in proportion to how much you use.

  • 1 credit ≈ ~$0.015 (cost per credit decreases with larger packages)

  • All paid plans include free credits each month (Starter: 3,000 / Advanced: 6,000)

Note: Not all Moby interactions use credits — only prompts that query your data. General questions and follow-up analysis after data is pulled are free.


What does NOT use credits?

  • Core dashboards — Summary, Attribution, Creative Analysis, Website Conversion, Customer Retention, Sonar

  • Custom created dashboards — Build your own from scratch or from templates

  • General Moby questions — Questions that don't query data

  • Follow-up analysis — After data is pulled, follow-up questions are free

  • SQL Builder / Table Builder


How many credits do I get included?

All paid Triple Whale plans include free credits per month:

  • Starter plan: 3,000 credits/month

  • Advanced plan: 6,000 credits/month

If you need more:

  • Upgrade to a higher monthly credit package (best for ongoing usage)

  • Top up with a one-time credit purchase (best for short-term spikes)


What can I do with my free credits?

These are typical estimates (actual usage varies by GMV):

With 3,000 credits (Starter):

  • ~5 Moby data prompts, or

  • ~60 image generations, or

  • ~12 agent queries

With 6,000 credits (Advanced):

  • ~10 Moby data prompts, or

  • ~120 image generations, or

  • ~24 agent queries

Credits are shared across Moby AI and Creative Generation. Heavier use in one area means fewer credits available in another.


What can I do with $500 a month?

Example mix for a balanced month (27,000 credits, $500/month):

  • ~28 Moby data prompts (~16,500 credits)

  • ~24 Agent queries (~6,000 credits)

  • ~50 Images generated (~2,500 credits)

  • ~20 Image edits (~500 credits)

  • ~3 Images published (~1,500 credits)

Credits per action based on median usage across all GMV tiers.


Are credits per user?

No. Credits are pooled at the shop level. Your whole team shares the same balance.


Do credits roll over?

It depends on whether you've purchased a credit package:

When does my credit balance reset?

  • Free credits: Reset at the start of each month based on your plan (3,000 for Starter, 6,000 for Advanced). Unused credits expire — they do not roll over.

  • Purchased packages: New credits are added to your existing balance at each billing cycle. Unused credits roll over.


What credit packages are available?

All paid Triple Whale plans include free credits each month:

  • Starter plan: 3,000 credits/month

  • Advanced plan: 6,000 credits/month

Purchasing a $500/month or higher credit package includes access to our Context Engineering team. They help you get the most out of Moby AI — from onboarding to uncovering powerful use cases.


What happens when I run out of credits?

When your balance reaches 0 credits, features that use credits pause until you add more.

What pauses:

  • Moby data queries

  • Agents that query your data

  • Image generation

What does NOT pause:

  • General Moby questions

  • Core dashboards and standard reporting

  • Custom dashboards

  • User-created dashboards

  • Template library

What you'll see:

  • A clear "out of credits" message

  • A link to your credit usage breakdown

  • Two options: Top Up or Upgrade Package

No surprise charges: We do not auto-charge overages. Usage stops until you choose an option.


What happens if I run out of credits mid-action?

The current action completes successfully. After that, features that use credits will prompt you to upgrade or top up before continuing.


Will I get notified when my credits are running low?

Yes. You'll see in-product alerts as your balance decreases:

  • < 300 credits — Banner notifying you that credits are running low

  • < 50 credits — Banner alerting you that credits are almost depleted

  • 0 credits — Banner indicating credits are exhausted, with options to top up or upgrade

Only one banner shows at a time based on your current balance.


How do I add more credits?

Upgrade Package

  • Purchase a larger monthly or annual credit package if you expect to use more credits consistently

  • Gives you a higher credit allowance

  • Unused credits roll over

Top-up (one-time purchase)

  • Best for short-term spikes (month-end reporting, campaign push, peak season)

  • Adds credits immediately without changing your plan

  • 20% price premium vs. 12-month contract paid monthly


How can I track my credit usage?

In your Credits usage page in your settings, you can track:

  • Current credit balance

  • Credits used over time

  • Usage by feature area (Moby and Image Generation)

  • What actions drove usage

All customers get a transparent tracking dashboard — so you always know where credits are going.


Do credits get burned automatically or in the background?

No. Credits are only used when you run a specific action.

Credits are consumed when:

  • You ask Moby a question that queries your data

  • An Agent runs (scheduled or manual)

  • You generate, edit, or publish an image

Credits are NOT used by:

  • Simply having features enabled

  • Background processes

  • Passive data syncing

  • Core reporting

If you have an Agent scheduled, you can customize or turn off the schedule whenever you want.


Will I get surprise overages?

No. We do not auto-charge overages. Usage is visible in-product, and you choose if/when to upgrade or top-up credits.


What if a query fails to load?

If a query fails before returning results, credits are not consumed. You're only charged for successful data processing.
