The Studio Interface
When you open an image, you'll see four main areas:
1. Header Bar (top)
Save - saves your current changes
Save as New Version - creates a snapshot you can return to later
Download - exports your image as a PNG file
Unsaved changes indicator - reminds you when you have edits that haven't been saved yet
2. Canvas (center)
The main editing area where your image is displayed. Click any element to select it, then drag to move or use the handles to resize and rotate.
3. Bottom Toolbar
Quick actions for your canvas:
Add Text — places a new text layer on the canvas
Layers — opens/closes the layers sidebar
Version History — opens/closes the version panel
AI Edit — starts an AI-powered edit on the selected image layer
4. Layers Sidebar (right)
Shows all the elements in your design, stacked from top to bottom. Use it to select layers, toggle visibility, reorder elements, or delete layers.
Working with Layers
Your image is made up of layers — think of them like transparent sheets stacked on top of each other. The bottom layer is usually your background image, and you can add text, additional images, or AI-generated elements on top.
Selecting a layer
Click on any element in the canvas, or click its name in the Layers sidebar.
Moving and resizing
Move: Click and drag the layer on the canvas
Resize: Drag the corner or edge handles
Rotate: Drag the rotation handle above the selection box
Reordering layers
Drag layers up or down in the Layers sidebar to change which elements appear in front or behind. Layers at the top of the list appear in front.
Hiding and deleting layers
Hide: Click the eye icon next to a layer to temporarily hide it
Delete: Select the layer and click the delete button in the floating toolbar, or use the trash icon in the sidebar
Note: The Background layer is locked by default — it can't be moved, resized, or deleted. This keeps your base image in place while you add elements on top.
Layer actions toolbar
When you select an image layer, a floating toolbar appears above the canvas with quick actions:
Bring forward / Send backward — adjust z-order
Hide — toggle visibility
Delete — remove the layer
Adding and Editing Text
Adding text
Click Add Text in the bottom toolbar (or the T button)
A new text layer appears in the center of your canvas
Double-click the text to start typing
Formatting text
When a text layer is selected, a text formatting toolbar appears with:
Font family — choose from available fonts
Font size — adjust the text size
Bold / Italic / Underline — style toggles
Color — pick a text color
Alignment — left, center, right, or justify
Editing text content
Double-click any text layer to enter edit mode. Type your changes, then:
Press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) to confirm
Press Escape to cancel and revert to the previous text
Click anywhere outside the text to confirm
AI Edit — Change Any Part of Your Image
AI Edit lets you modify specific areas of an image using a text prompt. Want to change the background, swap out a product, or add an element? Just select the area and describe what you want.
How to use AI Edit
Select an image layer on the canvas
Click AI Edit in the bottom toolbar
The canvas enters edit mode — other layers are dimmed and locked
Draw a selection over the area you want to change
Type a prompt describing what you want (e.g., "replace with a beach sunset background" or "add sunglasses")
Click Apply and wait for the AI to process your edit
The edited image replaces the original area
Tips for better AI edits
Be specific: "A golden retriever sitting on grass" works better than "a dog"
Describe what you want, not what to remove: "A blue sky with clouds" instead of "remove the building"
Select the right area: Draw your selection just around the region you want to change - the AI uses this as a guide for what to modify
Canceling an AI edit
Click Cancel in the action bar, or press Escape at any time to exit AI Edit mode without making changes
Note: During AI Edit mode, you can't select other layers, reorder elements, switch versions, or save. Finish or cancel the edit first.
Saving Your Work
Creative Studio auto-tracks your changes, but you need to explicitly save to persist them.
Save
Click Save in the header to update your current version. This overwrites your latest save with the current state of the canvas.
Save as New Version
Click Save as New Version to create a new snapshot. This preserves your previous version and creates a new one — useful when you want to try different variations without losing earlier work.
Tip: The "unsaved changes" indicator in the header lets you know when you have edits that haven't been saved yet. Save often to avoid losing work!
Version History
Version History lets you browse and restore any previously saved version of your project.
Viewing version history
Click Version History in the bottom toolbar
A panel opens on the right showing all your saved versions with thumbnail previews and timestamps
Versions are listed newest first
Restoring a version
Click on any version thumbnail to load it
If you have unsaved changes, you'll be asked to confirm before switching (unsaved changes will be lost)
The canvas updates to show the selected version's state
Tip: After restoring a version, you can make new edits and save as a new version — your other versions remain untouched.
Downloading Your Image
To export your finished image:
Click Download in the header bar
Your image is exported as a high-quality PNG at the original image resolution
The file downloads to your browser's default download location
Note: The download captures exactly what's on the canvas — hidden layers are not included.
Editing Images in Moby Artifacts
When Moby generates content with images (like ad mockups or landing pages), you can edit those images directly and save the changes back.
How it works
In a Moby artifact (e.g., a generated ad layout), look for the Edit in Studio button on images
Click it to open the image in Creative Studio
Make your edits (resize, add text, AI edit, etc.)
Click Use Image to save your edits back to the artifact
The artifact updates with your edited image
Tip: This is great for quick tweaks to AI-generated ad layouts — adjust text positioning, swap backgrounds, or fine-tune compositions without starting over.
FAQ
Who can use Creative Studio?
All Triple Whale users with Moby enabled have access to Creative Studio. No additional setup or subscription is needed.
What image formats are supported?
Creative Studio can open standard web image formats (PNG, JPEG, WebP). All exports are saved as PNG.
Is there a size limit for images?
There's no strict pixel limit, but very large images (over 4000x4000px) may load more slowly. The canvas adapts to fit your image's aspect ratio.
Can I edit the same image multiple times?
Yes. Creative Studio remembers your project — opening the same image again loads your most recent version with all layers and edits intact.
Can I collaborate with my team on an edit?
Currently, Creative Studio projects are per-user. Each team member creates their own versions when editing the same source image. users can see others' chats and interrupt, but not simultaneously
What happens if I close the browser without saving?
Unsaved changes will be lost. Always click Save or Save as New Version before closing. The unsaved changes indicator in the header reminds you when you have pending edits.
Can I undo changes?
You can restore any previously saved version from Version History. For in-progress edits, use Escape or Cancel to undo an AI edit before it's applied.
Why can't I move or delete the background?
The Background layer is locked to keep your base image in place. All other layers (text, AI-generated elements) can be freely moved, resized, and deleted.
Where are my images stored?
Your Creative Studio projects and images are stored securely in your Triple Whale fil system. They're accessible anytime you return to the same source image.
