Overview
The Triple Whale × Tapcart integration surfaces your mobile app performance directly on your Triple Whale Summary page, cleanly separated from web traffic.
Once enabled, a dedicated Mobile App Analytics section shows how your app audience browses and engages — without blending into your web analytics numbers.
What you'll see in Triple Whale today:
Metric | Definition |
Sessions | How many times someone visited your app. Once a shopper opens the app, everything they do counts as one visit until they're inactive for 30 minutes — after that, their next action starts a new one. This matches how GA4 and Shopify count visits, so the numbers are easy to compare across platforms. |
Sessions (Legacy) | An older way of counting visits, kept around for accounts that haven't switched to the definition above yet. Instead of using a time-based cutoff, this method starts a new "session" every time a shopper's visit is linked to a different ad, campaign, or source — even if it's technically the same ongoing visit. That means one shopper browsing continuously could still get counted as several separate sessions if they arrived through more than one source along the way. We show it side-by-side with "Sessions" so accounts can compare the two until they fully transition. |
Users | The total number of unique visitors. |
New Users | The total number of first-time visitors. |
New Users % | The share of your app visitors who are new (first-time) during the selected period. |
Session Duration | The average time spent per session, calculated only from non-bounced (multi-screen) sessions. |
Screens per Session | The average number of screens a shopper views during a single app session — the mobile equivalent of "pages per session" on web. |
Bounce Rate | The share of sessions where the shopper viewed only a single screen before leaving. |
Sessions with Add to Carts | The number of sessions in which a shopper added at least one item to their cart. |
Add to Cart % | Sessions with Add to Carts as a percentage of total sessions. |
How It Works
Tapcart embeds the Triple Whale mobile SDK directly inside the Tapcart app build. When the integration is enabled and your Triple Whale Shop ID is correctly configured, mobile session data flows into Triple Whale automatically. The Mobile App Analytics section then appears on its own on your Summary page, with no additional setup required inside Triple Whale.
The section is powered entirely by session-level data from the Triple Whale pixel. It tracks how customers engage inside your native app: how long they stay, how many screens they browse, and how often they add items to their cart, giving you a clear picture of your app audience separate from your website visitors.
Once your app is updated with the new Triple Whale connection, it can take a little time before you start seeing data on your Summary Page. Your customers need to update the app on their own phones first, and that doesn't happen instantly for everyone. As a general rule, expect to start seeing activity in your Mobile App Analytics section within 24–48 hours.
Activation Steps
Log into Tapcart. Go to
app.tapcart.comNavigate to Integrations > Triple Whale (
app.tapcart.com/integrations/triplewhale).Enter your Triple Whale Shop ID.
In the integration settings, enter your Shop ID and click Save & Enable.
⚠️ This is the most common setup mistake.
Your Shop ID is your full Shopify store URL as it appears in Triple Whale, for example yourstore.myshopify.com. It is not a custom ID or a shortened store name. Entering an incorrect or partial URL is a silent failure: pixel events may still fire, but your Mobile App Analytics tiles will not appear on your dashboard.
Tapcart deploys a new app build. This happens automatically on Tapcart's side — no action needed from you. Note that customers update their apps organically, not all at once, so it can take 24–48 hours after the new build is live before a meaningful amount of mobile session data starts flowing in.
Data begins flowing. Once the new build is live and customers use the app, mobile session data flows into Triple Whale and the Mobile App Analytics section surfaces automatically.

Troubleshooting
The Mobile App Analytics section isn't showing up
Most common cause: an incorrect Shop ID. Confirm you entered the full yourstore.myshopify.com format in Tapcart — not a partial URL or store name. If it was wrong, correct it, trigger a new app build, and allow time for fresh sessions to flow through.
Also confirm your Triple Whale date range includes days after the integration was enabled — the section won't appear for dates before your first mobile session.
The section appeared, then disappeared
This section is date-range aware. If you switch to a period before your app was active, it won't display. Switch back to a range that includes recent app activity.
FAQs
Do I need to do anything inside Triple Whale to enable this?
Yes. Enter your Triple Whale Shop ID on the Tapcart integration page and click Save & Enable. Once Tapcart deploys the updated build, the section appears automatically. No toggle, feature flag, or CSM request needed.
How do I know if my Shop ID was entered correctly?
Check your browser's address bar in Triple Whale for shop-id=yourstore.myshopify.com. That full URL is what belongs in Tapcart's integration settings.
How long does it take for data to appear?
Tiles surface the same day qualifying mobile sessions are recorded, once Tapcart's new build is live with your Shop ID initialized.
Will this affect my existing Web Analytics numbers?
Yes, in a good way. Once mobile sessions are detected, Web Analytics automatically excludes app traffic — giving you a cleaner, web-only view.
🔜 Coming soon Mobile App Analytics currently shows session and engagement metrics only. Revenue, Total Orders, AOV, and CVR are planned for a future release. This article will be updated when they ship.
Do I need to contact my Triple Whale CSM to access this feature?
No. Once you save your Shop ID in Tapcart, data flows automatically and the section appears on its own — no CSM request or manual enablement needed.
