Overview
Filtering ad account data by campaign, ad set, and ad name/ID empowers marketers to drill down into performance metrics at a granular level. These filters enable brands to evaluate the effectiveness of individual ads or campaigns, identify opportunities for optimization, and allocate resources more effectively.
Similarly, Shopify order tags and source tags allow businesses to categorize and track orders based on specific attributes, such as promotional campaigns, customer groups, or fulfillment status. This segmentation helps brands understand customer behavior, measure the success of marketing efforts, and improve operational efficiency.
In this article, we will show you how to create data filters to segment your Ad Account data and Shopify data on your Summary Dashboard.
Shopify Data Filter
To create a filter, head to the Store section on the Summary Dashboard and click the filter button. Select + Add Filter
. Name your filter. Then, choose the field you would like to filter by. Options include:
Source Name
Order Tag Name
After selecting a field, define the criteria of the filter. If the field you selected is Order Tage Name
, you would then choose which order tags should or should not be included in the filter. You can do this in four ways:
Contains: Includes records with the specified value anywhere in the field.
Does Not Contain: Excludes records with the specified value anywhere in the field.
Equals: Matches records with the exact specified value.
Does Not Equal: Excludes records with the exact specified value.
As you begin to enter the value, a list of relevant matching values will appear. Select a specific value from the list to limit the filter to that exact value; otherwise, simply click the exact value as you've written it from the dropdown list.
By adding multiple filter criteria, your filter will only show orders that fit both criteria. So, a filter comprised of two criteria shows “orders that fit criteria A and B.”
When you are finished, click Save and Apply.
Shopify Filter Use-Case
Madison Braids wanted to exclude POS orders from their Summary Dashboard. They created a new filter and removed any order data whose Source Name equals pos
. Since they have other Source Names that include pos in their title (in this case, AfterSell Post Purchase Upsell), they used the Equals
criteria.
Ad Integration Data Filter
To create a filter, head to the relevant section on the Summary Dashboard and click the filter button. Select + Add Filter
. Name your filter. Then, choose the field you would like to filter by. Options include:
Campaign Name
Campaign ID
Ad Set Name
Ad Set ID
Ad Name
Ad ID
After selecting a field, define the criteria of the filter. If the field you selected is Campaign
, you would then choose which campaigns should or should not be included in the filter. You can do this in four ways:
For text-based fields:
Contains: Includes records with the specified value anywhere in the field.
Does Not Contain: Excludes records with the specified value anywhere in the field.
For number-based fields:
Equals: Matches records with the exact specified value.
Does Not Equal: Excludes records with the exact specified value.
As you begin to enter the value, a list of relevant matching values will appear. Select a specific value from the list to limit the filter to that exact value; otherwise, simply click the exact value as you've written it from the dropdown list.
By adding multiple filter criteria, your filter will only show orders that fit both criteria. So, a filter comprised of two criteria shows “orders that fit criteria A and B.”
When you are finished, click Save and Apply.
Accessing Your Filters
All of your saved filters can be accessed at any time on the Summary Dashboard and can be disabled or enabled with ease. Simply select one or more of them, click Done, and your data will change to reflect only the data in that segment.
An indicator in the dashboard navigation will remind you that some filters are applied.
Using multiple filters on a single section
If you select more than one filter on a single section, you will see orders that fit either filter criteria. So, applying two filters shows “orders that fit criteria A or criteria B.”
