Standard Mode: A Conversational Interface

This is Moby's default mode. Simply type your natural language prompt directly into the "Chat with Moby" input box. Moby presents a single-thread chat format, similar to popular chatbots like ChatGPT. This mode is focused on interaction, with text responses generated as you ask questions or give commands. Throughout the conversation, Moby embeds widgets directly in the chat, providing quick visual insights alongside the text-based responses.

  • User Experience: Single-thread chat conversation.

  • Widgets in Context: As you ask questions, Moby embeds widgets such as charts or tables into the chat for a visual representation of the data.

  • Ideal For: Users who prefer an uninterrupted conversational flow, with data visuals appearing organically during the interaction.

Deep Dive Mode: Plan-Driven, Autonomous Analysis

Deep Dive is Moby’s “hands-off” analytics mode. Rather than going back and forth one line at a time, Moby first drafts a full step-by-step playbook for the question you ask, lets you review or edit it, then executes everything—from data pulls through visuals—on its own. Independent steps run in parallel, errors are fixed automatically, and any surprising patterns trigger extra analyses before the final report is assembled.

  • User Experience: Two panes. On the left, your prompt and an editable numbered plan; on the right, four synchronized tabs appear as results arrive—Gen Text, Gen UI, Reasoning, and Code.

  • Plan-First Workflow: Preview the full list of steps Moby will run, then add, remove, or reorder tasks before hitting Run.

  • Ideal For: Root-cause deep dives (“Why did net profit fall in March?”), quarterly business reviews, strategy decks, and any situation where you need a full narrative—numbers, visuals, code, and reasoning—in one place.
