Triple Whale shows an ad's delivery status, meaning whether it's actually running, not just the position of its own on/off switch.
In Meta, every ad sits inside an ad set, which sits inside a campaign. An ad only delivers when all three are on. If you pause a campaign or an ad set, the ads inside it stop delivering, but each ad's own switch can still say "On".
How Triple Whale shows it
Active (green dot): the ad, its ad set and its campaign are all on, and Meta isn't holding the ad back.
Not active (grey dot): the ad was paused itself, its ad set or campaign was paused, or Meta is holding it (pending review, in process, disapproved, with issues, or pending billing info). Hover the dot to see exactly why, for example Ad set paused, Campaign paused or Pending review.
You'll see this in Creative Analysis and in Pixel attribution. In Creative Analysis, the Status filter uses the same rule, so Paused includes ads paused at the campaign or ad set level.
The ad's own switch is still yours
Where Triple Whale lets you turn an ad on or off, the toggle still controls the ad's own switch. Turning an ad on won't make it deliver if its campaign or ad set is paused. Turn those on in Meta too.
Still looks wrong?
Status updates on the next data refresh after you change something in Meta.
Check the campaign and ad set in Meta Ads Manager. If both are on and the ad is approved, it should show as Active after the next refresh.
