Moby Observability

Overview

Moby Observability helps you keep tabs on key metrics using two tools:

  • anomaly detection and

  • threshold monitoring

Important:
Each metric can use either anomaly detection or threshold monitoring. You choose one method per metric.

You can access it by clicking the bell icon on any metric...

or by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner of your Summary page and choosing "Moby Observability Settings"

Anomaly Detection

Anomaly detection watches for unusual behavior in your metrics.

Moby uses an Isolation Forest algorithm to compare the current metric value to its historical patterns, then flags anything that looks off.

How it works:

  • Runs three times a day at 6 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM

  • Always checks the last full hour of data

  • Uses historical trends to decide if the metric is behaving normally or abnormally

Once you subscribe a metric to anomaly detection, Moby automatically starts monitoring it.

Threshold Monitoring

Thresholds let you decide exactly when Moby should alert you. This is perfect when you know the range your metric should stay within.

Example: Notify me if Blended ROAS drops below 2 or goes above 5.

How it works:

  • Checked every hour (all non web analytics metrics and derived metrics) or every 10 minutes (for web analytics metrics and standard metrics such as sessions, visitors and discounts)

    • Derived metrics are calculated values such as Blended ROAS, which depends on revenue and spend

Thresholds also evaluate the last complete hour of data.

Root Cause Analysis

If Moby finds a metric value to be anomalous or outside the bounds of a provided threshold, it will automatically run an AI-powered root cause analysis to tell you what happened.

Notifications and Subscription Settings

You control what gets monitored and how you receive alerts.

On the Summary page:

  • Click the bell icon on any metric

  • Choose anomaly detection or threshold monitoring

  • Enable or disable monitoring anytime

In Moby Observability settings:

  • Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the Summary page and open Moby Observability Settings

  • Manage all metric subscriptions in one place

  • Choose email or mobile push notifications

When something triggers an alert, Moby notifies you and visually highlights the affected metric on your Summary page.

Timing Rules to Know

Moby bases all evaluations on consistent time windows so your alerts are reliable.

  • Anomalies: checked at 6 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM

  • Thresholds: checked every hour or every 10 minutes depending on metric type

  • All checks use the last full hour of data

In Summary

Moby Observability gives you smart, automated monitoring for the metrics you rely on. Pick anomaly detection for unexpected changes or thresholds for known guardrails, configure your notifications and let Moby handle the watching for you.
