Overview
Kimonix is an AI-powered product discovery and merchandising platform for Shopify brands. It lets merchants control which products appear, and in what order, across collection pages, product recommendation elements, and email marketing; using a rule engine built around filters and sorters.
Until now, Kimonix's merchandising logic was built entirely on store-side signals: sales velocity, inventory levels, margins, and page views. The Triple Whale integration adds the outside layer: how products perform on paid channels before a shopper ever reaches the store.
With Triple Whale connected, merchants can filter and sort products using metrics like Ad Spend, Pixel ROAS, Pixel CPA, Clicks, and Pixel Conversion Rate; directly inside Kimonix's merchandising rules. A product that's driving profitable ad traffic can automatically earn better placement. A product with high spend but low return can be deprioritized.
This is the first time merchants can merchandise based on performance outside the store; primarily on paid channels.
What You Can Do With This Integration
Sort collection pages by paid performance metrics — surface products with the strongest Pixel ROAS or Conversion Rate first
Filter product sets by ad spend thresholds, margin, or pixel purchases before applying sorting logic
Power recommendation widgets (related products, cross-sell, cart recommendations) using TW-informed rules
Feed those outputs into Klaviyo/email campaigns to promote products that are already performing on paid channels
Combine TW metrics with Kimonix's existing parameters — for example, filter by margin > $80 AND ad spend > $100, then sort by Pixel Conversion Rate
Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
An active Triple Whale account with the pixel installed
Ad accounts connected in Triple Whale (required for ad-derived metrics like ROAS, CPA, Ad Spend, Clicks, CTR, CPC, CPM)
An active Kimonix account
Note: If your ad accounts are not connected in Triple Whale, ad-derived metrics will not be available in Kimonix. Pixel metrics (CV, Purchases, Conversion Rate, etc.) will still work without ad account connections.
How to Connect
Step 1 — Generate an API Key in Triple Whale
Log in to your Triple Whale account at app.triplewhale.com
In the left sidebar, navigate to Data → APIs
Click Generate API Key
Enter Kimonix as the description (for your reference only)
Under Scopes, check exactly these two:
Summary Page: Read
Pixel Attribution: Read
Click Generate API Key
A modal will display your new key — copy it immediately. Triple Whale will not show it again once you close this modal.
Step 2 — Add the Key in Kimonix
In Kimonix, open Settings and scroll to the Triple Whale integration section
Paste your API key into the Triple Whale API key field
Click Save
Toggle on Activate Triple Whale integration support
Kimonix will begin importing the last 90 days of Triple Whale data in the background. A status indicator will confirm when sync is complete — this can take up to 20 minutes.
Once the sync is complete, Triple Whale metrics will appear in your Kimonix product analytics table and are available as filter and sort rules across your collections.
Available Triple Whale Metrics in Kimonix
Once connected, the following Triple Whale metrics are available as filters and sorters inside Kimonix:
Metric | Description |
Pixel CV | Total product revenue across all traffic sources (paid, organic, direct, email) |
Pixel New Customer CV | Revenue from new customers only, across all traffic sources |
Pixel Purchases | Total orders containing the product, across all traffic sources |
Pixel New Customer Purchases | Orders from new customers only, across all traffic sources |
Pixel Units Sold | Total units of the product sold, across all traffic sources |
Pixel Added to Cart | Number of times the product was added to cart |
Pixel Conversion Rate | Percentage of visits that resulted in a purchase (Orders ÷ Visits) |
Pixel CPA | Cost per acquisition: Ad Spend ÷ Orders |
Pixel ROAS | Return on ad spend: Pixel CV ÷ Ad Spend |
Pixel New Customer ROAS | ROAS calculated using new-customer revenue only |
Pixel New Customer CPA | Cost to acquire one new customer |
Ad Spend | Total ad spend attributed to the product (proportional share of units sold per ad) |
Ad Clicks | Total ad clicks attributed to the product (proportional share) |
Ad Impressions | Total ad impressions attributed to the product (proportional share) |
CTR | Click-through rate: Clicks ÷ Impressions |
CPC | Cost per click: Ad Spend ÷ Clicks |
CPM | Cost per 1,000 impressions: Ad Spend ÷ Impressions × 1,000 |
Important notes on metric scope:
Pixel metrics (CV, Conversion Rate, Purchases, etc.) are measured across all traffic sources combined — paid, organic, direct, and email. They are not filterable by specific channel.
Ad metrics (Ad Spend, Clicks, Impressions, ROAS, CPA, etc.) are inherently about paid channels only.
Ad metrics only appear for products that have ad spend behind them. Products with no active ads will show zero for ad metrics, but Pixel metrics will still populate.
Using Triple Whale Data in Kimonix
Triple Whale metrics work exactly like any other Kimonix parameter — they can be used as filters (to narrow the product set) or sorters (to rank the filtered set).
Example Strategy: Surface profitable ad-driven products
Open a collection in Kimonix and add a Filter
Set Ad Spend > 100 to limit to products with meaningful paid investment
Add a second filter: Margin > 80 to ensure profitability
Add a Sorter: Pixel Conversion Rate, Descending
The result is a ranked set of products that are both well-funded by ads and converting efficiently — automatically placed at the top of the collection
This same logic can be deployed to recommendation widgets or exported as the product set for a Klaviyo email campaign.
FAQ
Do I need OAuth to connect?
No. The integration uses a simple API key copy-paste flow — no OAuth required. Your Kimonix customer success team can walk you through it if needed.
How long does setup take?
Generating and pasting the API key takes about 2 minutes. The initial data sync takes up to 20 minutes.
How often does data refresh?
Triple Whale data syncs into Kimonix multiple times per day. Exact frequency may vary by your Kimonix plan.
Can I see how a product performs on a specific channel, like Facebook?
No. Ad metrics are combined across all paid channels, and Pixel metrics are combined across all traffic sources. The integration reflects overall external performance, not a per-channel breakdown.
Why do some products show zero for ad metrics?
Ad metrics only exist for products that have active ad spend behind them. Products with no ads will show zero for Ad Spend, Clicks, ROAS, etc. — but Pixel metrics will still populate for those products.
Where does the merchandised output actually appear?
The ranked/filtered product sets from Kimonix can be deployed to: collection pages, product recommendation widgets (related products, cross-sell, cart), and email marketing campaigns via Klaviyo or other connected providers.
