Sharing Chats and Chat Privacy

Chats are now private by default. You see your own chats, plus chats others share with you.

Summary:

Who can see which chats:

• Owners: all chats in the account.
• Admins and users: only their own chats, and chats shared with them.
• Admins used to see all chats except the owner's. This has changed.

How to share a chat

  1. Open the chat you created, or have Edit access to and click Share.

  2. Type an email. Owners and admins get a pre-filled list of account members. Regular users must type the person's email.

  3. Choose Can view or Can edit, then Share.

You can only share with people who are already members of the account. No email is sent; the chat appears in their chat history.

General access - Share with all users in the account

  • Only invited members: only the people you add can open the chat.

  • All account members: everyone in the account can open it. Set it to Can view or Can edit.

If general access gives edit rights, a person's own "Can view" setting does not limit them. The wider permission applies.

What the permissions mean

Permission

Access Description

Can View

Able to read the chat. The chat box is disabled, so they can't continue the conversation.

Can Edit

Can rename the chat, read its messages, and continue the conversation.

Editors can manage access (toggle)

When on, editors can also share, change access, and delete the chat. When off, only the owner can take these actions.

We improved privacy and control. Ask the chat's owner to share it with you and you'll see it in your chat History.
