The problem

Shop owners make use to Order Tags and Sources (Channels) in Shopify in order to aid them in understanding where their sales are coming from, and get greater insight into their shop’s performance. For example, an order tag of “summer sale” would show all orders purchased as a direct result of a specific sale.

Another example is those orders marked as POS or wholesale. These are fundamentally different verticals, and most store owners do not want to view this data mixed in with the rest of their metrics.

Up until now, Triple Whale’s summary page did not allow you to segment or filter your data at all. This means that it was impossible to filter out or view metrics on certain segments of orders.

The Solution

We already give you the option to filter your ads data. Now, you will also have this same option to see a better and more clear view of your Shopify data. This will only be available for Shopify data that's found in the ‘Store’ settings on the summary page, and the metrics built off of this data.

You can now filter and segment your Shopify data based on two criteria: Order Tag and Source. Source is being pulled from the "Channel" field in Shopify. We will continue to add to this list over the coming weeks.

How Does it Work

First, click the down arrow in the Store section of the Summary page.

When clicking this, a dialog box will open that allows you to create your segments using filters. As stated, the only criteria for filters right now are Order Tag and Source. You can then filter based on if the text Equals/ Does Not Equal, or Contains/ Does Not Contain certain values.

Note that you will see a pre-populated list of values to choose from in the Search bar, based on the actual values from Shopify. You can also choose to search using free text.

If you click the small + icon and add two separate criteria for a filter, your filter will only show orders that fit both criteria. So, a filter comprised of two criteria shows “orders that fit criteria A and B.”

To filter your Shopify data, click the down arrow and select the selected filter. You can also edit and delete from there.

If you select more than one filter, you will see orders that fit either filter criteria. So, applying two filters shows “orders that fit criteria A or criteria B.”

When the filter is applied, you will see an indicator appear on the down arrow.

All segments will be visible to (and useable by) all users on the shop.

What Gets Filtered on the Summary Page?

Besides for the entire Store section of the Summary page, all metrics that use Shopify metrics will also be filtered. This includes those found in the "Stats" section, as well as other custom metrics that utilize Shopify data in their calculation.
