Overview

Snapchat Ads provide businesses with a platform to reach a younger demographic through short, engaging video ads. With formats like Snap Ads, Story Ads, and Filters, advertisers can create immersive experiences. Snapchat's targeting capabilities include demographics, interests, and location, helping to deliver ads to the right audience.

Integrating Snapchat Ads with Triple Whale enables comprehensive tracking of ad performance and user interactions. This integration allows businesses to measure the impact of their Snapchat campaigns alongside other advertising efforts, optimizing their overall marketing strategy.

Get Connected

A brief walkthrough video of connecting Snapchat to Triple Whale.

To set up your integrations, head to Settings > Integrations.

When you click Connect, you'll be redirected to Snapchat Ads. Make sure you're already logged into Snapchat using an account that has admin privileges to the Snapchat Ads account you'd like to connect with Triple Whale. Click Continue to approve the connection.

Once you are back to Triple Whale, a popup will prompt you to select the Snapchat Ads account/s you'd like to import to Triple Whale. Check off the relevant account/s and click Save.

UTM Setup

A Tracking Parameter is a snippet of code that you can add to the end of a URL to track the performance of campaigns and content. By using Triple Whale's custom Tracking Parameters in your Ads Manager accounts and marketing content, each visitor will be informing our Pixel exactly which ad they just clicked on before arriving at your store.

Copy the following tracking parameters and append them to the Destination URL of any ads you launch on Snapchat.

REQUIRED TRACKING PARAMETERS:

?tw_source=snapchat&tw_adid={{ad.id}}

For example: if the Snapchat ad in question is meant to direct prospective customers to https://yoursite.com/product, then the following text should appear in the URL text field:

https://yoursite.com/product?tw_source=snapchat&tw_adid={{ad.id}}

NEW ADS:

  • When creating a new ad on Snapchat, simply append Triple Whale's tracking parameters to the ad's Destination URL

EXISTING ADS:

  • Select the ad you would like to add UTMs for, and click Edit

  • At the top of the righthand sidebar, click Edit Ad Creative

  • In the Website URL text field, append Triple Whale's tracking parameters to the end of the target URL.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I bulk edit UTMs for all my Snapchat ads?

  • Every ad that you want to track with the Triple Pixel will need our recommended tracking parameters in there. Since UTMs in Snapchat are added to the end of the Website URL for each ad, Snapchat currently does not support bulk UTM edit options.

2. Can I connect multiple Snapchat Ads accounts to Triple Whale?

  • Yes, as long as they are under the same email address within Snapchat. If they are, you will be able to select multiple accounts when you connect Snapchat.

3. Why do some metrics not seem to match up?

  • It's important to understand the different types of data you will find in Triple Whale, and how to interpret various reports. Generally speaking, a metric imported directly from an integrated source (such as: Snapchat CPC) should appear in Triple Whale as it does in Snapchat. However, some dashboards include Triple Whale's first-party data, which can differ significantly from channel-reported metrics. Additionally, a subtle formatting error in ad link UTMs can prevent proper tracking. For a deeper dive into the various metrics available in Triple Whale, explore our Data Dictionary.
