Overview
This article walks you through activating Shopify metafields and importing specific customer, order, or product metafields into Triple Whale. Once you complete these steps, the data appears as a new column in the matching Triple Whale table, and Moby can use it to answer questions.
Before you begin
Your Shopify store must be connected to Triple Whale.
Know which specific metafields you want to bring in ahead of time. You can select up to 10 metafields per asset type (Customers, Orders, and Products).
Steps to Import
Go to Data
Click on Integrations
Find your Shopify integration from the list
Click Manage on the Shopify integration card.
In the Activate Shopify Metafields window, click Activate.
On the Import Metafields page, open the Customers, Orders, or Products section to see the metafields available for that data type.
Select the checkbox next to each metafield you want to import.
Assign each selected metafield to a Triple Whale column to continue.
Click Create New Column to map it to a new column, or choose an existing column if one already fits.
If creating a new column name it and select Create Column
Click Save to finish the import.
Reviewing or editing imported metafields
Go to your Shopify integration and open the Metafields tab to see a table of everything you've imported, with its Key, Column Name, and Type. Click Edit Metafields to make changes.
Steps to Disable
Go to Data
Click on Integrations
Find your Shopify integration from the list
Click Manage on the Shopify integration card.
Click on Edit Metafields on the top right
Uncheck metafield, and select Disable on following prompt window
If you previously disabled a metafield from your import, it will show as Disabled in this list. Click Re-enable next to it to make it selectable again.
Steps to Re-enable
Go to Data
Click on Integrations
Find your Shopify integration from the list
Click Manage on the Shopify integration card.
Click on Edit Metafields on the top right
Click Re-enable next to disabled metafield
Verify it worked
Once saved, your new column appears in your Triple Whale data and can be used in SQL and by Moby. Each column has a prefix, 'custom_field'.
