Changing the Account Owner in Triple Whale

Learn how to transfer account ownership and update admin permissions in Triple Whale.

Written by Maggie

Overview

The Account Owner in Triple Whale is the primary user with full administrative control over the account, including billing, permissions, and key settings.

How to Transfer Ownership

Step 1: Add the New Owner as a User

If the new owner is not already in the account:

  1. Log into Triple Whale

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Navigate to Team / Users

  4. Click Invite New Team Member, enter their email, and send the invite.

The user must create an account and be added before ownership can be transferred.

Step 2: Assign the New Owner

If you are the current owner:

  1. Find the user

  2. Update their role to Owner

This will transfer full ownership to that user.

If You Bought or Acquired a Store

If you purchased a store from someone else:

  • You’ll need to work with the previous owner to gain access to the Triple Whale account

  • The previous owner should either:

    • Add you as a user and transfer ownership, or

    • Share access so you can update the account

If you cannot reach them, you may be able to reset the password using the owner’s email, depending on access to that inbox.

Can Triple Whale Transfer Ownership?

For security reasons, Triple Whale cannot transfer account ownership without approval from the current owner.

If you’re locked out:

  • The current owner must help grant access or transfer ownership

  • This ensures account data and billing access remain secure

If the Owner Has Left the Business

If the current owner is no longer with the company and cannot be contacted:

  • Reach out to support via the in-app chat bubble or at [email protected] to begin a verification process

  • Our team will review the request and guide you through the next steps

This may include verifying:

  • Business ownership

  • Domain access

  • Store/Shopify admin access

Requesting Help from Support

If you need assistance, please provide:

  • Store URL

  • Current owner’s email (if known)

  • New owner’s email

  • Context for the request

Important Notes

  • Only one Account Owner can exist at a time

  • Ownership includes full control over billing and permissions

  • We recommend using a company-owned email (not an individual employee)
